The Breakfast Bracket pt 2

Posted by jon on March 23, 2009 in not so deep thoughts, sports talk |

Well, my real NCAA bracket is still strong. I got 12 of the sweet 16 correct and all four of my final four are still in it. I can’t say the same for my breakfast bracket. I was stunned when my #2 Fruit Loops fell to Cinnamon Toast crunch. I was told Toucan Sam was inconsolable when he heard the news. Otherwise, it was a fairly uneventful 1st round. Pebbles got the nod over Raisin Bran and Apple Jacks was within a couple of votes of pulling the major upset.

In round 2 I expect a few upsets. I think Pebbles will give Cheerios all it wants and more. Coming out of the first round the two hottest competitors are Captain Crunch and Frosted Flakes.  Both whom won their matches by taking over 95% of the votes. I expect this one to be very close and the winner could be the favorite to take it all. I guess that’s up to you the reader. I’ll post the winners and final four matchups on Wednesday.

Thanks to everyone who voted in round one, and you can vote for round 2 by either posting a comment or emailing godiseveywhere@joncoder.com.

-Even though not a big fan, I’ll go with Cheerios for their versatility and ability to be eaten anywhere on the court.
-Captain Crunch, b/c, well, it’s Captain Crunch.
    -Lucky Charms since it’s March
-Cinnamon Toast Crunch since Honey Nut Cherrios is misspelled. And, they’re sweeter. And Crunchier. And Toasted.

    - Fruity Pebbles over Cheerios. If you had combined cheerios to include Honey Nut, then they’d get the nod. But, after the age of 3, Cheerios seem to lose their appeal.
Captain Morgan Crunch over Frosty Flakes. FF get too soggy too fast. And, CC has the peanut butter flavor available, too.
Frosted Mini Wheat over Lucky Charms. The kid in me likes the lucky charms, but there’s something special about drinking the sugar-laden milk after a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats
Honey Nut Cheerios over CTC. Don’t get me wrong, I like CTC, I really do. But, the HNC stays with me longer.

    1. Plain Cheerios hold no appeal for me. I need a little sweetness to my cereal. I must go with Fruity Pebbles even though they come very close to crossing the too sweet line.
    2. While I do enjoy a nice bowl of Frosted Flakes, I will have to go with the Captain
    3. Frosted Mini Wheats vs. Lucky Charms is a very difficult one for me. I love them both. I have been on a Lucky Charms kick lately, but I think in the long run it would have to be Frosted Mini Wheats.
    4. This is a no brainer for me. Cheerios over Cinnamon Toast Crunch every time. Cinnamon Toast Crunch gets way too soggy way too fast. If I wanted to eat mush, I would make oatmeal.
