Christmas Music: A Guide

Posted by jon on November 9, 2009 in not so deep thoughts |

I love Christmas Music! I love to hear the classics like Bing Crosby and Andy Williams. I love hearing the Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith albums that were played around my house EVERY year growing up. I really love hearing new arrangements from the likes of Jars of Clay, Shane & Shane and Bebo Norman. There are so many cbxmasgreat Christmas albums out there it can be hard to find the right one(s).

The cynic in me realizes there does seem to be a bit of a formula to a lot of these Christmas albums. You get an original song, a cool new arrangement to a classic and then they throw in a couple favorites to fill it out. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I makes it even more exciting when you find a gem that doesn’t just mail in the formula. Casting Crowns and Third Day both put out Christmas CD’s last year. They could have easily mailed it in and the CD’s would have sold on the name value, but those CD’s were sneaky good, and you really get your money’s worth out of them. As I mentioned before Shane & Shane and Bebo Norman put out a great albums as well.

I noticed last week that several of the stores are setting up displays for Christmas Music, so I will now provide you with some must haves for your Christmas Music library.
